Character Traits & Definitions

A CharacterTrait is defined as the way in which a person behaves or to explain someone’s behavior

  1. ACCOUNTABILITY: Responsibility for one’s actions and their consequences
  2. ATTITUDE: Thinking and acting in a positive way toward yourself, others, and everyday situations
  3. CARING: Showing concern for the well being of others
  4. CITIZENSHIP: Working together to make our school, community, and country a better place to live and learn
  5. Compassion: Feeling for another's need and helping that one without expecting anything in return.
  6. Cooperation: Getting along with others and working together.
  7. COURAGE: Strength of mind to carry on in spite of danger or difficulty
  8. Courtesy: The act of kindness and civility.
  9. Determination: To continue on, regardless of the circumstances
  10. DILIGENCE: Careful and continued work
  11. Empathy: Feeling for another's need and helping that one without expecting anything in return.
  12. ENCOURAGEMENT: Motivating others to do their best through positive words and actions
  13. Generosity: Unselfish; willing to share with others
  14. HONESTY: Being truthful in words and actions
  15. Humility: Modesty; absence of self-pride.
  16. Initiative: Taking responsible action on your own without prompting from others.
  17. INTEGRITY: To be honest and sincere with others and yourself by choosing to do the right thing
  18. JUSTICE & FAIRNESS: Demonstrating impartial, unbiased and equitable treatment for all.
  19. KINDNESS: The quality or state of being kind
  20. LOYALTY: the quality or state of being faithful; true
  21. Modesty: The act of being reserved and humble in speech dress or behavior.
  22. Patience: Waiting with a happy spirit.
  23. Perseverance: Continue to work hard and persist toward the goal even when obstacles and difficulties arise.
  24. RESPECT: Treating self, others, and property with value
  25. Responsibility: To be accountable for one’s own behavior.
  26. SELF-CONTROL: Displaying emotions and behaviors appropriately
  27. Self-discipline: Exercising control over one's own emotions and actions.

  33. WORK ETHIC: Demonstrating commitment, pride and a positive attitude in completing tasks
